Road Trip

We took a road trip with the kids over the rocky mountains and beyond to visit my sister's family. Mainly their newest arrival, Sam, of which I had the pleasure to became his God Mother. We started out at 5 a.m. hoping to get a few hours of driving with the kids still asleep. Ha, after pretending to still be asleep (so they wouldn't miss out on being carried and cuddled to the van) there were huge shouts of hooray before we even left the garage!

An hour later Iz was asking not only were we there yet but were we at the airport yet! Oops, I guess we forgot to tell about her about that part... so then we were subject to all the how come questions. EEh. But, but, we had not one but two DVD players ready to go (thanks Natalie). Swore we would never do it, but it really did make the trip bearable and on the way home, now use to long drives they didn't really use them all that much.

After breakfast in Kamloops, we stopped at Mt.Robinson for ice cream and a stretch ... and lots and lots of napkins. This was a gorgeous part of the drive, beautiful mountains and a clear day to view them. It was a great day for driving.

Next stop Jasper. We thought we would stay here for the night but Iz was getting so excited about seeing her cousin Julianna, she didn't even want to get out of the van. Stating that she would skip dinner and we could get out for a quick snack but that was it! Oh and can you please drive faster Dad! This she takes after her uncle Steven.

But Joey loves trains and we were getting out! And I mean it!!!! (You may start to sense a little travel crankiness emerging at this point). Boy does he love trains! We starting referring to our road trip as "The Great Train Spotting Adventure" because every train or train track in sight got an enthusiastic: "Toot toot, train mommy, train daddy, toot, toot!

To be continued....
